Illowa Intergroup Business Meeting Minutes

March 1, 2010

The meeting was called to order by Ben D. at 6:11 pm.

ATTENDANCE:

Groups Present:  Bettendorf, Blandine, Central Discussion, Courage to Change, Diversity, North Scott, Northwest

Officers Present: Chair – Ben D., Co-Chair – absent, Secretary – absent, Office Manager– Lisa W.,  Treasurer – absent, Telephone Chair – Mel M.

Chairs Present: District 9 Liaison – Gail S., Events – Karen K., Heidi L. (acting chair) – Newsletter

Secretary’s Minutes - Minutes from the February 1, 2010 meeting were approved as published.

Treasurer’s Report –   Income for February 2010 was $ 1,806.30.  Contributions totaled $ 375.94; sales were $ 1,387.40, events income was $ 40.00, and bank dividends totaled

$ 2.96.

The breakdown for actual expenses and purchases for February is as follows: general expenses - $ 1,647.93, event expenses - $ 0, taxes/accounting services - $ 0, and literature purchases - $ 1,093.07.

The balance in the general checking and savings accounts as of February 28, 2010 was

$ 5,754.16. Of this balance, liabilities total $ 1,380.00.  This leaves a remaining balance of $ 4,374.16.  The balance in the events account is $300.00.

A copy of the Profit & Loss report was available for the reps to share with their groups.  This form reports both monthly and year-to-date financial information.  –Lisa W., Office Manager, acting Treasurer

Office Manager’s Report – Things are still busy at the office.  A letter was written to increase contributions, and was included with the March newsletter.  In addition, copies were sent to groups that do not contribute.  The tax information has been taken to the accountant for our yearly taxes. 

A flyer was made for the anniversary event in April and was included in the newsletter. There are also copies here for Intergroup reps to take back to their groups.  Please see me after the meeting if you have ticket money to give me or need more tickets.  The last day for ticket sales is April 14. We also need donations for the raffle. 

Please turn in any information or flyers you want included in the newsletter by the 15^th of the preceding month. – Lisa W., Office Manager

Events: - Tickets are now available for the Intergroup anniversary dinner/dance event on Saturday, April 24^th. Tickets are $20 each.  We are also asking if groups would donate a basket of their own choosing for the raffle. – Karen K., Events Chair

 Most reports were not presented, and regular business was not conducted due to the election of officers.

New Business – The office manager reported that the Norton virus protection for the computer has expired and wondered whether or not it should be renewed.  After some discussion, a motion was made by Terri B. and seconded by Gail S. that the office manager investigate free virus protection and contact the webmaster to get his input.
