Illowa Intergroup Business Meeting Minutes

December 7, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order by Ben D. at 6:05 pm.

 

ATTENDANCE:

Secretary’s Minutes - Minutes from the November 2, 2009 meeting were approved as published.

Treasurer’s Report –   Income for November, 2009 was $2,119.57.  Contributions totaled $515.11; sales were $1,600.85, events income was .10. and bank dividends totaled $3.51.

 

The breakdown for actual expenses and purchases for November is as follows: general expenses - $1,442.15, event expenses - $0, and literature purchases - $770.22.

 

The balance in the general checking and savings accounts as of November 30, 2009 was $6,589.45. Of this balance, liabilities total $1,434.78.  This leaves a remaining balance of $5,154.67.  The balance in the events account is $300.00.

 

A copy of the Profit & Loss report was available for the reps to share with their groups.  This form reports both monthly and year-to-date financial information.  – Susan F., Treasurer (report given by Lisa W.)

 

Telephone – All is going well. – Mel M., Telephone Chair (report given by Lisa W.)

 

Office Manager’s Report – Call counts for November were 1 twelve-step, 164 information, 0 Alanon/Alateen, 1 for other addictions, and 39 visitors. 

 

Please contact the office if you are willing to do some service work by helping me at the office.  I need help putting plastic on the windows ASAP to keep out the cold.   We are still looking for backup volunteers and a permanent Friday volunteer, as well as people for our 12-step list.  We are especially in need of Spanish-speaking 12-step people, so if you know anyone or are interested, please let me know. – Lisa W., Office Manager

 

Events: - No report.  – Karen K., Events Chair

 

Newsletter: - All is going well.  We still need a Newsletter Chair. – Report given by Lisa W.

 

District 9 Report – No report – Gail S., District 9 Liaison

 

District 90 Report –The Grapevine position is still open.  There were 6 people who were able to attend the Regional Forum in Kalamazoo, MI.  The Treatment Committee is looking for a female volunteer to help conduct meetings at Douglas Park Place.  The Corrections Committee was able to obtain 5 badges for women to conduct meetings at the Rock Island County Jail.  The Cabin Fever Speaker Banquet will be held on February 20th in Kewanee, IL.  – Dee R., Acting District 90 Liaison

Old Business – The Newsletter Chair and District 90 Intergroup Liaison positions are still open. There was discussion on possible ways to help get these positions filled.  Heidi L. will work with the Office Manager on the January newsletter and determine if her computer has the necessary software to perform the job. 

 

New Business –  It was suggested that Intergroup’s telephone number be added to the header of the www.aaquadcities.com website so that it will be easier for visitors to the site to find the information.  Dee R. will contact the webmaster to gather more information about making this change.

 

Group Reports -  

 

Bettendorf Group – The business meeting is held the 3rd Wednesday of each month following the 5:30 pm meeting.  Elections were held on November 18th with new positions taking effect January 1, 2010, and vacant positions starting immediately.  The group will be open all day on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Meeting times will follow the usual Friday schedule with the exception that all meetings will be OPEN.  You are all invited to celebrate the holidays with us.  Snacks are welcome.

 

MarquetteHoliday events include: Christmas Eve meetings at 8pm, 10pm, and a candlelight meeting at midnight; New Year’s Eve – Potluck, meeting at 8 pm, dance from  9pm – 1am. 

 

The meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.

 

THE NEXT INTERGROUP MEETING WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 4, 2010.
