Office Manager’s Report:  It was a very warm month in the Intergroup office, like everywhere else. The air conditioner we have is too small for the two front rooms, so the temperatures in the coolest part of the office (two fans and one air conditioner running) have been between 84 and 89 degrees F. in the afternoons. The back rooms were much warmer than that.  If you have a working window air conditioner (9000 BTU or greater) or space heater (looking ahead to winter) that you want to get rid of, please call the office!

I have heard from a few sources this month how lucky we are to have our 24-hour phone rotation setup running so smoothly and well-organized – I don't know of any other Intergroup that has what we do.  Thanks to the phone chair and co-chair for making that happen, because it's not an easy job!   Of course, I also want to thank all the volunteers who take the phones once a month so we can have a 24-hour hotline.  You never know when someone will get brave enough to make that first phone call asking for help, and we want to have an alcoholic at the other end of the phone when they do.

We have a total of six Faithful Fivers now, five of them new.  I'm sure most of us would have spent more than $5 a month (or even a day) on a drink – give it to Intergroup instead!

        Call counts for July were 13 twelve-step, 143 information, 40 visitors, and 4 Alanon/Alateen.

In love and service,Lisa W.

Telephone Chair Report:  The Intergroup Phone rotation is full at the present time for now and we have ample amount of people for the back up list. We would still like to have more names of people that are interested in helping. The 12 step list is a little small; if you know anybody that would like to do 12 step work, please have them call the Intergroup office and they will help get them into service on the list.

In love & service, Robert S.

Newsletter Report:  The newsletter went out on July 20 before all business meetings.  You may have noticed this month that we had even more announcements.  This month the 80 newsletters cost $92.45 to print and $47.20 to mail ($1.74 per newsletter).  Remember that each flyer pays $7 to be in the issue.  After this is subtracted, it is $ .96 per newsletter.  All groups receive a complimentary copy, and we have approximately 58 subscriptions at $13/yr. or $1.08/month.  As always, if you would like to submit an article, please e-mail it to shell@mchsi.com.  I'd love to have some articles on all those great picnics going on!

Events Report:   The Intergroup Golf Tournament is Saturday, August 27th, at 11:30 a.m.  Please call Rob at 563-508-0874 or e-mail intergroupevents@gmail.com.  Please e-mail any suggestions regarding Intergroup events to intergroupevents@gmail.com.  Jammie J.

Expense reduction committee report:  Our committee, made up of Susan, Kevin, Rhonda, and I, corresponded by e-mail this past few weeks.  We are reviewing financial information provided by the office and Rhonda.  As preliminary report, our highest expenses are rent/facility costs at $500 to $575 a month and staffing.  To that end, we researched some options for moving and looked at staffing expenses.  I expect to have expense reduction proposals next meeting for everyone to take back to their groups to discuss, and our committee will disband at that point.  Thank you for the opportunity to serve.  Michelle NS

Old Business – Further discussion on how to increase contributions and promote Faithful Fivers.  Kevin provided a spreadsheet for all IG reps and officers showing Profit/Loss Statement for the years 2007 through 7/27/2011.

A motion was made and seconded to elect Joni K. to be the new Intergroup secretary.  The motion passed unanimously.  Thank you for stepping up, Joni!

The meeting was adjourned at 7:06 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Lisa W., Office Manager
