DCM Report: The Fall Election Assembly will be Sep. 12 in Mt. Morris. I will pick up GS Conference Reports and have them available next month. Results of area assembly business meeting on 9/12: 1. Election of Alt. Literature Chair – Kappy S. 2. 2010 NIA Spring Conference bid – none available, moved bid to next ACM. 3. Motion by Service Structure comm. re: 2010 Pre-General Service Conference Workshop/Spring Assembly. – passed on revote, 46 to 7 after minority opinion 4. Motion by Finance comm. to reimburse participation at East Central Regional Forum. – passed 5. Motion by Finance comm. to make a $5,000.00 mid-year contribution to G.S.O. passed unanimous minus 1 6. Revised motion by R&C comm. to amend NIA guidelines to specify election procedures and responsibilities to Alt. Registrar. Passed unanimous 7. Facilitate carrying the message through literature by buying discounted Big Books. Failed 20y, 31n ~ The East Central Regional Forum will be held in Kalamazoo MI November 13-15, 2009. We need to know at next district meeting if you are planning on attending the Regional Forum. (Tammy D.)
Treasurer’s Report: Expenses for August were $93.50 versus revenue of $6.00 for a deficit of $87.50 Total Balance of accounts at end of August was $2151.17 (Terry W.)
Committee Reports:
Correctional Facilities: The new badge system has not been resolved. Big Books have been delivered to Youth Correctional Center in Kewanee. I’m trying to nail down a date for corrections workshop. Treatment Facilities: I put together beginner’s packets for ARM group meeting at Riverside. Grapevine: I have once again been removing staples and sewing old issues of the Grapevine for distribution in “newcomer’s packets” and other areas of need. I will continue as needed. With the District’s approval I would like to include a message promoting the Grapevine to be placed in the Intergroup newsletter and mailed to each group. Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC): absent. Public Information (PI): no report. Literature: All’s quiet on the literary front., Special Needs: no requests, Intergroup Liaison: Jan B has resigned as office manager and Lisa W. has been hired as her replacement. The newsletter chair and Intergroup Liaison positions are open. We also need volunteers to fill in on an occasional basis and we have one opening on the telephone rotation.
Henry County Group: Big Book Study on Sunday is the biggest weekly meeting. Our annual picnic is Sep. 26 from 9:30am until 10:00pm at Frances Park.(Alan H.) Geneseo Group: All is well. We have new paint and carpet. (Joe R.) Our Primary Purpose Meeting: Lots of birthdays this month. (Victoria.) House Group: 41st annual potluck on 10/24 with a speaker meeting at 8pm followed by a DJ and dancing. Picnic was successful. (Lisa R.) Last Chance Group: Held business meeting on 8/23 where we voted to return to handing out chips at every meeting. The Saturday 8pm meeting will remain open, if you want to invite family members to see you pick up your chip. We discussed the International Convention and a lot of people are interested in attending. (Kris O.) Milan Hillcrest Group: Picnic on September 20 starting at noon at Indian Bluff Park. Chicken and drinks will be provided, please bring a dish to pass. (Mary L.)
Fall Event: YEE-HAW! Put on your western costumes and c’mon over to District 90’s Western Bonanza! Saturday, September 26th from 6:00 – 10:00PM at the Singing Bird Nature Center in Black Hawk State Park, 1510 46th Ave., Rock Island. There will be prizes for best costumes, dancing and a Sloppy Joe cook-off. Bring a dish to pass. Tickets are $5.00 at the door or buy one from your GSR for $4.00. We started shopping yesterday. Have decided against DJ, will use CDs instead for Country & Western music. Beautiful facility for this event.
Old Business: Promote interest in bus trip to International Convention in San Antonio next July.
New Business: Passed motion to print flyer regarding district elections in I/G newsletter.
