DCM Report: I attended the Spring Committee Meeting in LaFox in May where items that will be on the agenda at the Summer Assembly were discussed. There are some which would affect us in the form of additional support to encourage participation at the Regional Forum and State Conference, an increase in mileage reimbursement, and money to help provide Big Books and pamphlets to Districts that have or are starting Bridging the Gap programs. I will be attending that Summer Assembly in Rockford on the 18th, and hope to see some of our GSRs there. I have copies of the Agenda items and directions to the location in Rockford. We did a walk through at the facility we will be using for the Fall Assembly to start planning how we will set up for that event. We still need someone to chair the Greeter Committee, and people to join the other Committees such as Registration, Refreshments, and Set-up/Clean-up. Please join us to help make the Area welcome for this event. Although it is not set in stone yet, our plan is to host the Post-GSC Delegate's Report and Service Workshop at St. Mark's on 7/31 from 3:00 to 5:00pm with pizza and fellowship to follow. Hope to see you all there.
Treasurer’s Report: Income for May $105.48 versus expenses $45.80. Total balance of accounts at end of May $1405.61.
Committee Reports: Correctional Facilities: Veterans Affairs has contacted us about them donating a meeting room, Mondays 10-11am, details to follow. Creating prison correspondence flyers for newsletter and groups. Looking for 2 male volunteers for East Moline Correctional Center. Treatment Facilities: Attended Spring Committee meeting in LaFox on 5/14. Ray M, our Area Delegate, discussed the events that took place in New York. Regarding the Hope video, no action was taken in taking the line "Uncle Sam is not going to bail us out" out of the video, so for now it will stay in. I will be attending the NIA Summer Assembly in Rockford on 6/18. Kelly, our Area Treatment Chair has entered a motion to have funds available for District Treatment Chairs to be able to order literature for Districts needing help to carry the message to potential newcomers. This includes: one case of Big Books, 100 each of the following pamphlets: Q&A About Sponsorship, A Newcomer Asks, Is AA For Me, Is AA For You, 44 Questions and This Is AA. CADS phoned Donna S, Iowa District 9 Treatment Chair, and is requesting that all CADS have literature racks with literature in them. CADS in Rock Island has a literature rack but the East Moline location does not. The East Moline office is requesting that we purchase them one. Cost is $25.00 plus literature. I have sent both locations a page out of the Treatment Facilities Workbook showing suggested pamphlets. They are to look it over and get back to me with what they want. Darcy S and I traveled to Galesburg on 6/1 and attended the District 91 business meeting to discuss how we got BTG started and to assist them in their starting of it. Grapevine: Subscriptions and renewals available online at www.aagrapevine.org. Online version is cheaper, print version still available. Accepting donations of old Grapevines. Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC): Absent. Public Information (PI): Vacant. Literature: Vacant. Special Needs: Meetings are still being held at Forest Hills on Wednesday nights. Call counts for May: 3 12-step, 113 information, 61 visitors. Intergroup contributions are insufficient to cover operating costs (see Self Support letter). Telephone chair looking for backup people.
