NIA District 90 Meeting Minutes June 8, 2010

DCM Report: I'd like to thank all those who attended the Post-Conference Delegate's Report and Service Workshop on May 16th. We were fortunate to have not only our Delegate Ray M, but also the Area Chair Cheryl V, Treasurer Jeff L, Alt. Treasurer Mike F, Secretary Tammy D, and Registrar Judd W who all shared their experience and knowledge about service work. The Geneseo Group had a successful and well-attended Sponsorship Workshop on May 8th. I will be attending the Area Summer Assembly on June 19th in Joliet. Flyers are available here and also on-line at www.aa.nia.org. There are still service positions open at the Area level. Materials for displays and books are usually available for our District Chairs from the counterparts at Area to help us perform our primary purpose. (Bruce M)
Treasurer’s Report: It was both an honor and a privilege to serve as District 90 Treasurer these past few months. Although I would love to continue serving in this capacity, I must submit my resignation from this position due to a change in my recovery. Income for May $435.95 versus expenses $37.97. Total balance of accounts at end of May $792.71. (submitted by Diane M)
Committee Reports:
Correctional Facilities: Need male volunteers for Rock Island county jail, distributing signup sheets. Treatment Facilities: Providing 3 large-print Big Books for Douglas Park BB study. Grapevine: Board of Directors is seeking candidates for Grapevine Executive Editor. Announcement placed in Intergroup newsletter about collecting old issues at Intergroup for distribution to jails, treatment facilities, and groups. Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC): No report. Public Information (PI): No report. Literature: No report. Special Needs: Our first meeting at Forest Hill Health and Rehab scheduled for 6/23, still need volunteers, meetings to be held Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm. Intergroup Liaison: Vacant.
Our Primary Purpose: No report. Last Chance: Held business meeting 5/16, elected new trusted servants, attendance averaging 17 people, still having potlucks every third Friday of the month after 5:30pm meeting. House Group: Attendance and finances better, business meeting 6/13 following 10am meeting. Cambridge Group: All is well. Henry County (Kewanee): Sunday Big Book Study meetings well attended. Milan Hillcrest: Picnic on 9/12 at Indian Bluff, details to follow. Expressed concern over donations made by District 90 to Intergroup.
Old Business: Campfire meeting event Saturday 9/25, Terry W to lead planning. Next district meeting at Our Primary Purpose, 7/6 at 6pm.
New Business: Treasurer position open, Secretary to act as Treasurer in the interim. Gathering group conscience about donations to Intergroup, Area and GSO.
