DCM Report: I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your DCM. At the present time, I am able to identify with a candle in a hurricane and ask for your patience as I become familiar with the service structure and my relationship with its various parts. My hope is to encourage more groups in the District to participate in the exchange of information by sending their GSRs to District and Area meetings. I will try to visit some of these groups in the near future. It is vitally important that the group conscience on issues going before the General Service Conference reach our Delegate through District and on to Area. To this end, it is equally important that the groups receive information that will allow them to make informed decisions on these issues. I attended the January 23 Committee meeting and orientation in La Fox. At the moment, I am suffering from information overload made worse by accepting a position on the Report and Charter Committee at Area. It has been said that "whatever does not kill you, will only make you stronger". I pray that this is true and realize that my Higher Power will see me through. We have received some shortened versions of the NIA 20 Service Handbooks and they are available to those interested. I hope we can "keep the lights on" in District 90, and will need all your help to that end. Thank you for your service and commitment. (Bruce M)
Treasurer’s Report: I am both honored and privileged to serve as the new District 90 Treasurer and I thank you for allowing me this opportunity. Past Treasurer Terry W has "passed on" the pertinent information and bank records to me. Jesse N and I visited DHCU and updated the accounts for the current Treasurer and Secretary. Expenses for December were $927.10 versus income of $124.67. Expenses for January were $88.76 versus income of $60. Total balance of accounts at end of January was $1032.00. Although we are still operating on the principles and procedures from the previous budget year, I was privileged, during the December NIA Winter Assembly, to hear about a new budgeting structure that was approved and has been currently and successfully used by Area, entitled Primary Purpose. You will find copies of the procedures available for your review and discussion during the March District Meeting. Prior to the next meeting, I hope to contact the appropriate party from Area to see if he or she would visit us and brief the District on this type of budget. (Diane M)
