District 90 Meeting Minutes 12/5/2006

 

Earlene W., DCM, called meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.

Officers in Attendance: DCM—Earlene W., Treasurer—Butch W., Geneseo Group GSR—Brian, Alternate Geneseo Group GSR—Noel, Henry County Group GSR—Chuck L., and Intergroup Liaison—Andrea R.

Groups in Attendance: Cambridge, Geneseo, and Henry County Group

Concept Presentation: Chuck gave the Concept 12 presentation. Andrea R. volunteered to give the Concept 1 presentation in January at the Geneseo Group.

Recording Secretary: Minutes for November, 2006 corrected and approved.

Group Reports: Cambridge Group—Butch reported a decrease in attendance, probably due to the room being smoky and being unable to open the windows in the winter. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m. Geneseo Group—Brian reported the Geneseo Group is well-attended and they are financially sound. Henry County Group—Chuck reported that all meetings are well-attended and the 12 Steps & 12 Traditions are being obeyed. Sponsorship has increased. They are again addressing smoking issues.

DCM Report: No Report. Earlene started out for Darien on Saturday morning, (to go to the Winter Assembly) but after it took 50 minutest to travel 25 miles, she decided the drive was too dangerous and turned around and went home. Instead of fighting the elements, she played in them with her granddaughter on Sunday. They went tobogganing.

Treasurer’s Report: Total District 90 funds are $2,073.48. There was one group contribution made from Coal Valley of $19.73. Total expenses were $411.47. Report accepted and approved.

Grapevine: No Report.

CPC: No Report.

Corrections: No Report.

Intergroup Report: From the Treasurer--Income for the month of November was $1,730.25.

Total expenses were $2,641.05.The balance in the general checking and savings accounts as of November 30.2006 is $9,498.27. Of this balance, liabilities total $1,924.31 and $2,000.00 is budgeted for December expenses. This leaves a remaining balance of $6,327.16.

From the Office Manager--Call counts for November were 11 Twelve-Step, 221 information, 6 Al-Anon/Alateen, and 82 visitors. We need volunteers to occasionally work the morning and afternoon shifts at the office. Please call Jan if you can help. Sales of literature and contributions were both down significantly for the month of November. Gift certificates for merchandise at the Intergroup Office will soon be available. Please call or stop in to purchase.

We are out of copies of the new book “Emotional Sobriety” until at least January.

From the Telephone Chair--The new co-chair is Cissy L. Both she and Dawn are in the process of updating the 12th-Step Call List. I have copies of a new sign-up sheet to take to your groups. Please return them to the Intergroup Office by January 8th, 2007. We also need volunteers to man the phones on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day from 9:00 a.m.—5:30 p.m. Other Business--

There is a standing affirmative vote that Intergroup will participate in defraying the website costs each year. They are willing to pay 1/3 of the bill. Intergroup Officer elections will be held in March. This announcement will run in the Illowa Messenger starting in January. There will be a nominating committee of four people, two from each District, to assist with the elections process. If you know of anyone who would like to be on this committee, please contact Dee.

The next Intergroup meeting will be Monday, January 8, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.

 

Old Business:  The District 90 Meeting Schedule for 2007 follows. We will meet the first Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., unless otherwise noted:

January 2, 2007—Geneseo Group

February 6, 2007—Hillcrest Group in Milan, IL (START TIME: 6:30 p.m.)

March 6, 2007—Cambridge Group

April 3, 2007—Aledo Group

May 8, 2007—Henry County Group in Kewanee, IL

June 5, 2007—House Group in Moline, IL (in basement)

 

New Business: A request has been made for literature to be sent to the Henry County Jail. A motion was made and approved unanimously that the District send 18 English Big Books, 2 Spanish Big Books, and 2 Spanish 12 x 12s. The cost will be $150.00. The Royal Oaks Group in Kewanee, IL will also be donating 6 English 12 x 12s. It was decided that the following should be written in each text: “Donated by District 90 General Service of Alcoholics Anonymous.” Steve B. will be asked to check on the book inventory in six months to see if more books are needed.

Brian volunteered to be the contact person for the Henry County Jail.

 

Discussion item: Funding some registration fees for the Spring Conference.

Brian made the following motion, which was seconded by Andrea: District 90 is to fund 24 A.A. members’ registration fees for the 2007 NIA Spring Conference. Motion passed.

Here’s how we’re going to do it:

GSRs or Group Contacts will gather completed SC registration forms and bring them to the Hillcrest Group meeting in Milan, IL on February 6th. Twenty-four names will be drawn at the meeting, and Butch will write the checks for the registrations at the meeting. Winners will be notified by their GSRs or Group Contacts. Each A.A. member may enter only once.
