DCM Report: I would like to remind everyone that there is a NIA 20 Committee Meeting in LaFox on the 13th, and I hope to see you all there. Please keep in mind that we have District elections coming up in the near future. My hope is that many of you will step up and become involved in keeping District 90 alive and reaching out to our still suffering brothers and sisters. We also are fast approaching the Area 20 Fall Election Assembly which we are hosting here in our District on September 17th. Please consider signing up for one of the Committees that are needed to put on this event. I have been in contact with the DCM from District 91, and he is trying to interest people from there to help with this effort. We would also like to put out the word that we will be needing individuals or groups to make desserts for the lunch that will be served. You can contact Randy F, the Host Committee Chair, for details. Please help us make this a great experience for the people from the Area.
Treasurer’s Report: Income for July $189.97 versus expenses $188.02. Total balance of accounts at end of July $1552.70.
Committee Reports: Correctional Facilities: Federal Building meetings going well, looking for another male volunteer. Received request for books from Kewanee juvenile detention center. Please consider trying prison correspondence. Treatment Facilities: No news. Placed a flyer in Intergroup newsletter to encourage Rock Island volunteers for Bridging the Gap. Grapevine: Nothing new to report. Cooperation with the Professional Community (CPC): Absent. Public Information (PI): Vacant. Literature: Vacant. Special Needs: Our meetings at Forest Hills have gotten a little smaller because residents are moving out on their own. Sad there aren't as many attending, although very happy for them as they continue on a new journey, big book in hand. Intergroup Liaison: Formed committee, looking for ways to increase contributions and cut expenses. Looking for donations for 9000+ BTU air conditioner and space heater. Request each group rep to attend Intergroup business meetings the 1st Monday of each month at 6pm to carry information back to group business meetings. The September Intergroup meeting will be Sept. 11 due to the Labor Day holiday on the 5th. Intergroup services are used every day and they are in dire need financially. If you are not aware of all the services Intergroup provides, please get involved.
GSR Reports: Henry County (Kewanee): Well attended, self supporting, anniversary party 10/1, new meeting Mondays 7pm, seeing how it goes before we officially add to schedule. Last Chance: A group conscience meeting was held and a vote passed to discontinue the 8:00pm meetings for now (Fri., Sat. and Sun.), still having a great turnout for our speaker-potluck meeting which is held the third Friday of the month at 5:30. New Beginnings: Looking for meeting speakers and attendees, Wed. 8pm meeting moved to Thurs. at 6:30pm, new treasurer Sue M. Milan Hillcrest: Picnic 9/18 at Indian Bluff Golf Course, considering discontinuing weekday 5:30 meetings. Geneseo: Same as usual. Rainbow: Meetings on Friday at 7pm, nice small group, come pay us a visit.
Old Business: Open District positions Treasurer (Jesse N, acting), Literature and Public Information. Received $200 check from Area for East Central Regional Forum assistance.
New Business: Faith Walk World Outreach Center to host next District meeting. District 90 elections coming up in October, all positions will be open. Discussion for next month, what to do with excess money at the end of the year.
